Civic Engagement
UEL (University of East London) goals to become London’s leading university for civic engagement. Also, helping students to become active citizens by working on community projects as part of their studies or through volunteering.
Students who have participated in civic engagement projects are more confident, able to work in diverse environments, and have better interpersonal skills – all invaluable attributes in the modern workplace.
And civic engagement goes further. Our Going Global and Global Scholars programs operate around the world, from China to Brazil.

Our students and graduates can sign up for our regularly updated work experience mailing list and browse hundreds of short-term job openings placed by employers.

Internships
Our bespoke summer internship program brings together employers offering summer internships and shadowing opportunities with our dynamic University of East London students and graduates.
The program is aimed at businesses and other employers such as small and medium-sized businesses who are looking for short-term help but are unable to hire a new permanent staff member.
We take responsibility for the recruitment and screening of all candidates and provide employers with a selection of candidates to interview. We also contribute to the salaries of interns.
Organizations that have participated in our program include the London Borough of Newham, Balfour Beatty and Clarence House.
Networking opportunities at UEL
Each year we host a full range of networking opportunities for UEL students, graduates and alumni.
The biggest networking event is our annual career and employment fair, ‘FUEL Your Future’, held in early summer at the East Wintergarden site in Canary Wharf.
Previous events have brought together nearly 100 employers including: ACCA Global, British Psychological Society, Canary Wharf Executive Development Centre, Capita Property and Infrastructure,
